This week, MBA launched a new monthly video series, mPower Moments, featuring Marcia Davies, our COO and the founder of mPower, exploring issues important to women in the real estate finance industry. For anyone who is unaware, mPower is MBA’s platform for women in our industry to strengthen their networks, to achieve professional growth and development, and to exchange ideas and information.
After two years of highly successful in-person mPower events at MBA conferences, mPower Moments videos will offer more women the opportunity to learn, connect and join the conversation. mPower Moments is a series of conversations between Marcia and women leaders from both inside and outside our industry, building on themes from mPower events to reach a larger audience.
For this week’s launch, mPower Moments is releasing two videos. In the first video, Marcia talks with Jan Fox, an Emmy award-winning TV anchor, on public speaking strategies and best practices. In the second video, Marcia interviews Megan Moore, Special Advisor to the Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), on workplace culture.
All episodes of mPower moments will be available online at mba.org/mPowerMoments.
mPower, which stands for MBA Promoting Opportunities for Women to Extend their Reach, is just one of MBA’s efforts to increase diversity and inclusion in our industry. mPower gives its members access to women’s events, resources and information, and a private, member-only online community. I am proud of the support mPower has received from MBA members and the work Marcia and her team at MBA are doing to create opportunities to leverage the power and influence of women in the mortgage industry.
Our industry must continue the work to meet all of our customers’ needs and I feel very strongly that we can’t do that without a diverse and inclusive workforce that reflects the communities we serve. For too long, women in our industry have faced barriers and obstacles that can no longer be ignored. Working together, we can help foster an environment of inclusion and opportunity within our industry. Thank you to the more than 1,500 women in the mPower community for being part of MBA’s effort to foster positive change and opportunity for everyone in our industry.
